Whenever a man is struggling with an addiction .. be it alcohol, drugs, pornography, or any other kind, it’s important to know three things:
No-one ever said it would be easy. To defeat these things is tough. You have to have grit, determination, and a commitment to overcome them.
It’s important to know where these temptations are coming from. It’s not just “life.” It’s not some kind of genetic deficiency. It is the arrows of the enemy being shot at you. It is your adversary coming at you with an assignment to take you out. He wants to minimize your gifting, diminish your influence, and destroy the credibility of your leadership.
You don’t have to fight alone! Psalm 91: 11-13: “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.”
Wow! What a promise. Rest in that today.
Stay alert, know your enemy, and trust your God. He is fighting for you. He will deliver you from the snare of the enemy, and He will keep you. Stay strong, encouraged, and be inspired.
